I want to hold you and protect you
I want to never let you go
I want to do all in my power
to help your life be whole
But no matter how I love you
there are things I can’t control
In your own way, in your own time
you’ll grow your own soul
And life is out there waiting
to see what dreams you’ll do
The sky is up there holding
a star just for you
So may your feet follow your heart
and may you have the heart to see
that the best thing you can ever do
is to be who you want to be
And as you take the world by storm
As you ride the winds of change
My heart will be here holding you
forever and a day.

Why were you given those great big eyes?
to open wide with great surprise!
Why were you given that curious nose?
to sniff and smell what nature grows!
Why were you given two-floppy ears?
-- to make very sure that each side hears!
Why were you given two juicy lips?
-- to smack & lick & whistle & kiss
Why were you given a chinny chin chin?
--to have somethin' to shake when you're laughin'!
Why were you given a long twisty neck?
-- to stretch and turn for love's tender peck
Why were you given wrap-around shoulders
-- to cuddle close when the night gets colder.
Why were you given two windey arms?
-- to shelter another from earthly harms
Why were you given a left and right hand?
-- to hold on + help out + build castles in the sand!
Why were you given each and every finger?
-- to touch and tickle and softly linger.
Why were you given a strong, proud chest?
-- to breathe in deep and do your best!
Why were you given a belly so round?
-- so food can fall all the way down down down!
Why were you given that booty of a bottom?
-- so chairs have something to sit upon 'em!
Why were you given those stout little legs?
-- to follow wherever a furry friend begs.
Why were you given those bendy knees?
-- to jump and roll and tumble with ease!
And why was each leg given an ankle?
-- to bend down when you're feelin' thankful.
Why were you given fast little feet?
-- to skip to your very own heartbeat.
And why were your feet given such teeny toes?
-- to gently tread where another's heart goes.
And guess why your heart's the most important of all?
-- so that love has a nice soft place to fall!
And why, oh why, were we given you?
-- to give love something WONDERFUL TO DO!

We cannot take
our eyes from you
so small, so fragile,
fresh and new
The softest sighs
the sweetest scent
No flower could match
your baby breath
Feathery fingers
silken skin
How beautiful
you begin
Wisp of smile
elfin nose
Sleepy eyes
softly close
Already you
hold on so tight
Not even a star
gives so much light
Small wonder on earth,
sweet gift from above --
Small wonder how much
you are already loved!

May you always have a light
like the morning sun inside you
And through the darkest night
may a dreaming moon guide you
May all your hopes be blessed
and your wishes all come true
May you have the very best
this world can offer you
And whatever roads
you journey down
Whether you fly or dance
or hug the ground --
May your every tomorrow
bring a brave and brand new start
And may the star you follow
be the one inside your heart

May your heart head for sky
with wings of soul-full flight
May your dreams paint the dawn
with all the colors of your light
And as you seek and discover
all the world’s precious wonders
May you always know the power
of your own true colors

Love is love in any language
any form or face
Love is love in any heart
or truth or time or place
And love so loves us that it finds us
wherever we ever are --
whether we’re rooted to the ground
or flying skies afar
We may have different dreams
and walk on different roads,
but there are things holding our hearts together
that only our hearts can know…
And though the ones we love are those
we sometimes must let go
Sooner or later time will show that
love always knows the way back home.

Someday you’ll be
all grown up
Riding the wind
Filling your cup
Someday you’ll fly
like a shooting star
Roping moons
and dreams afar
And as you chase
your rainbow-bliss
May life grant
your every wish
And as your hopes
and dreams grow
May your heart
always show
your feet where to go

She’s got love in her belly
Love in her eyes
Love in her choices
And reason-whys
And though time may crawl
As time can do
It’ll be well worth
The dream come true
For she has a new purpose
As everyone can see
Soon she’ll have a new name
For the new person she’ll be
We’ve known her as _________
But she’ll soon know the wonder
that no name will ever
be as precious as
Mother
